Basic Confined Space

 

Duration and focus:

This one (1) day course is aimed at those who need access to low risk confined spaces in their work.

This course is theoretical-practical, covering the legislative part, the safe access practices, the recognition of the general and specific risks of the activity, the control measures necessary to access safely, the interior of the atmosphere, the permit for entry, rescue plan and entry controls to access the confined space.

 

Requirements:

People who want to access must be in adequate physical condition and aptitude for work at height and confined spaces , have verifiable experience and be in possession of a valid Level 3 Safety at Height certificate.

Workers who need access to a low-risk confined space.

  • Legislation of confined spaces.
  • Definition and recognition of a confined space.
  • Categories of spaces.
  • Dangers of confined spaces.
  • Control measures for the different hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment, Work permit.
  • Risk analysis and safe work procedures in confined spaces.
  • Members of the work team in a confined space, trust and responsibilities of each of the members.
  • Characteristics of work devices for confined spaces and their limitations.
  • Maintenance of equipment and inspection frequency.
  • Vertical entry and exit to the confined space up to a height of three meters.
  • Use of the tripod or davit arm, features and limitations.
  • Good practices on the use of gas detectors, parameters, and actions against the different alarms and measurements.
  • Communication systems and actions in case of emergency.

 

Students per instructor : six (6)

 

Certification:

The student who passes the course will receive a certificate valid for one (1) year.

The validity of this certificate is subject to the annual update of the technicians Level High Safety certificate.
